Now to some extent this is right. I mean, think about it, white bread, refined sugar are not a very healthy option when you are trying to loss weight. But is it right to club white bread and cauliflower or mushrooms in one pack just because they are white in color?
Experts have been giving so many advice about adding colors to your food. Although there is no harm in eating foods filled with various color pigments, there are plenty of white food that have the nutrients those are hard to find elsewhere.
The purpose of this article is to make one point clear that if you want to lose weight in a healthy way, you have to have colorful as well as white food in your menu.
Onion: Onions are so powerful for our healthy body that one study have found people who lived more than 100 years ate a lot of onions in their lifetime. Though it might make you cry with its anti-inflammatory chemical quercetin, it has benefits like cancer reducing properties. Having regular onions in your diets protect you from arthritis, diabetes and other forms of health diseases.
Garlic: Garlic is called miracle plant. Like onions, garlic have phytonutrients and vitamins. It is filled with various trace elements which you might have missed in your effort to shift between diets. It has an active chemical called alicin which boosts immune system.
Cauliflower: Cauliflower contains Sulfur compounds, which is one of the main ingredient in fighting cancer. It also helps in strengthening of bones and improving blood supply inside blood vessels. Cauliflower along with broccoli, cabbage and others are cruciferous vegetables. All cruciferous veggies are known for their ability to fight belly fat. So, you should never miss an opportunity to eat some cauli.
Mushrooms: I hope you are aware that mushrooms though white in color are great source of nutrients. White mushrooms are particularly rich in antioxidants like polyphenol and some particular species are a good source of vitamin D. They are fat free, gluten free and has very little amount of sodium in them.
Potatoes: And, last but not the least are the white potatoes. Now, many experts claims that eating potatoes can make you fat. The main reason they gave you is that potatoes are high in glycemic index. Potatoes are really a healthy carbohydrate if eaten in right form. French fries does harm your body, but that is not because of the potato, but for the presence of trans-fat in the fryer and hydrogeneted vegetable oil.
Let me share one Dish that Mike suggests. If you use potato like this, you are never going to be fat by eating potatoes.

- Desired quantity of baby potatoes (I like to use this mixture I found recently at a health food store... it is a mixture of white, red, yellow, and purple baby potatoes)
- 1 red pepper
- 1 green pepper
- 1 yellow pepper
- 1 or 2 onions
- a couple cloves of garlic, finely chopped (or mashed garlic from a jar, organic preferably)
- 1 or 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil, grass-fed butter, and/or virgin coconut oil (sometimes I mix a bit of all 3)
- a little salt and pepper to taste (I like using a sea salt instead of normal commercial salt)
